Maintaining your image between haircuts

Do you have a tendency to throw on a hat five days after you get a haircut and count down the days until your next barbershop appointment?  If so, here are 3 maintenance tips to keep from looking like a caveman in between haircuts.

Tip 1:  Develop a daily grooming routine.  The brush and/or comb is your best friend.  Grooming your hair should just be just as much of a ritual as brushing your teeth (If this isn't a daily ritual then we have much more to talk about!)...It is recommended to style your hair right after you get out of the shower while your hair is soft and malleable.

Day-to-day activities such as working out and sleeping can cause the hair to fall out of shape or matte/tangle up.  Brushing and/or combing your hair "trains" it to stay in that particular pattern.

Tip 2: Shampoo and Condition hair at least twice a week.  As previously stated, activites such as going to the gym, sweating, etc. causes buildup in the hair and mattes it up....Not to mention dirt and dandruff buildup.  Conditioning and shampooing the hair has several benefits: it keeps the pH of the hair normal, mitigates dandruff, opens pores, and softens the hair follicle for easier management.

Tip 3:  Use a Moisturizer and Styling Product.  Your barber/Stylist should be able to recommend several hair care products for you.  Using these products in conjunction keeps the hair in place and gives the hair a smooth, polished look.  Your barber/stylist will also appreciate your efforts.
