As the saying goes, “Another Year Older, Another Year Wiser.” On October 24th, Drake will be 31 years of age. In order to pay homage to one of the most iconic music moguls for his birthday, the Barber Style Directory decided to do a blog that recaps his hairstyles throughout the years. Depending on how old you are, you may not have seen how Drake’s hairstyles have evolved from the beginning of his career until now. Let’s go through a time lapse and recap all of his most popular hairstyles to date. Wheelchair Jimmy (Degrassi) - For all of the 90’s babies, I’m sure most of you recognize this version of Drake, most commonly known as Jimmy Brooks or Wheelchair Jimmy, from the hit series Degrassi. This younger version of him wore a conservative, curly fro. He doesn’t have a crisp edge up or even a taper for that matter. This was a time period long before many of his millions of fans even knew who he was. The transition to a Music Artist - Drake began pursuing a music career in 2006 by releasing a sequence of mixtapes. This image is actually from his second mixtape, “Comeback Season.” This is probably the most popular picture of Drake on the Internet. After this picture surfaced, it immediately became one of the most requested haircuts in barber shops everywhere. Drake made a statement with this clean and crisp look. The fade is a timeless classic and the part serves as a complement. Take Care - In 2011, we saw Drake bring back the curls around the time of the release of his second album, Take Care. This look also solidifies that Drake was starting to reach a more mature point in his life, as you see in the picture above he began growing a beard. Nothing Was the Same - Let’s fast forward to 2013. This is the famous “5 Gum” Drake haircut. This is also arguably the most popular picture of Drake on the internet. This look is very similar to the “Comeback Season” haircut, except he switches from a fade to a light taper and has a beard.
