I've heard the key to nice skin is don't touch your face, drink water, and get enough sleep but that doesn't always work. There are still a lot guys using the "splash water on the face" method and there's nothing wrong with that. But if you experience breakouts often or want to rid your skin of dark spots, it's good to know what products to use. It's also beneficial to know what ingredients to look. Let's begin skin care 101.

Exfoliating

If you aren't getting that deep clean you need or those dark spots aren't going away it's because your missing an essential step, exfoliation. Exfoliating is the act of using a rough, textured substance to get rid of that top layer of skin, penetrate deep into the pores, and stimulate blood flow into your face. Dead skin build up in your pores can promote the growth of bacteria which means you'll never be blemish free. Any product that contains small particles will help exfoliate your skin and the blood flow will gives you a healthy glow. Purchasing a scrub is a good route to exfoliating or you can use organic brown sugar or cinnamon as an exfoliant. You should do this twice a week.

Cleansing

Cleansing is probably the most common route guys take when washing their face. Cleansers are usually preferred over exfoliating and can be used more often than an exfoliant because it's not abrasive. It does the same form of deep cleaning with the help of friction from circular hand motions and primarily gets rid of the oil on your face. Cleansers are very common so finding a product that agree with your skin is pretty easy. A important step is CONSISTENCY. Consistency helps your skin go from attack-mode to maintaining healthy skin. Just be careful if your skin produces very little oils because the cleanser will dry out your skin which is just another issue. Too much product makes your skin work overtime and produce more than needed.

Moisturizing

In order to combat dry skin, a moisturizer is going to be your friend. Even if you have oily skin a moisturizer can help reduce active sebaceous glands. Products recommend a small application to the palm and then applied over your face. My secret to an awesome moisturizer is honey. It's natural, it’s a humectant (attracts moisture) and taste really good. Moisturizing is an essential step that most, if not all guys leave out.

Toner

For that overall balance inside and out the toner is your superhero. It's a liquid that behaves like an astringent (reducing the size of pores) by removing the excess oil and product from your face. It reduces irritation, inflammation, feed your skin essential oils, and can help get rid of dark spots. It hits the spots that you might have missed with the help of ingredients like rose water, tea tree oil, or alcohol. You can apply it using a spray or cotton ball and you can use it anytime. After you wash your face or before you leave the house for the day.

Here are some commonly asked questions:

Q: What is that black face mask that you have to peel off your face?
A: This face mask peel is a new invention to skin care. It helps reduce pores, cure impurities, and brighten the face. The key ingredient is black charcoal.

Q: How do I get rid of a pimple within 24 hours?
A: I have found one product to be really effective and it's witch hazel. It has this zapping effect that dries out the target area. Check out the Lush Grease Lightening.

Q: How do I prevent razor bumps or ingrown hairs?
A: First off make sure that the tools you use to shave your face are clean. Try using a one blade shaver or try not to shave so close because that increases the likelihood of hairs growing incorrectly. Try using a product like Tend Skin if all else fails.
